Parrots, W.T.Greene

W.T.Greene.

Greene authored the authorative work entitled "Parrots in Captivity" which was published 1884-1887. It was one of the most comprehensive studies of parrots ever undertaken and was intended as a guide for people keeping parrots as pets. The chromolithographs are among the finest of all the illustrations of parrots from this period. The beautiful plates were printed by Benjamin Fawcett, who was one of the best colour printers of the Nineteenth Century, after drawings by A.F. Lydon. They are hand finished, particularly the eyes and the beaks, and on some there is a most attractive silvery wash applied to the feathers.
